- Our democracy depends on the citizens staying informed on the issues.
- Most citizens are very busy with work and family commitments. Consequently, they have a difficult time working in the time to research the issues of the day.
- Public opinion polls show people have lost trust in news organizations to provide fair and balance news as news subjects and reporting are guided more by advocates promoting a political agenda rather than just reporting the facts.
- The emergence of politically driven news sources significantly contributes to the severe political polarization we are currently experiencing. Since people naturally gravitate to news sources which they agree, consequently each side is only hearing news from one point of view.
- The universal desire of having un-biased reporters and editors is not realistic. Everyone has biases that influence what they view as facts and what they view as important. The only way to have equally-biased advocates present their biased views on a subject and let the public act as the jury and sort out what is the truth just like it is done in our courtrooms.
- Equal presentation of both sides of a controversial issue should prevent the perceived need by some platforms to censor content. If the arguments on one side are so weak or wrong, censoring should not be necessary.
- It is hoped the net result of these collaborative documents will be a calming effect on the polarization by allowing even partisan advocates to quickly hear (but not necessarily understand) the arguments of their political opposites. It is also hoped these short summaries will help the undecided to quickly get an overview of an issue.
- DoubleVisions.US hopes this equally-biased format is copied by other news organizations.
